I tried to be Gandhi.

When I was in the 8th or 9th grade, there were these 2 new students in class. A Korean and an African. The Korean was a pretty quiet guy, kinda tall, not really buff or ripped, just an average sized guy. The African was the more outgoing type, had an accent, was decent sized too, but what I remember was his hands. His hands were HUGE. I mean, his hand could probably cover the whole of my face.
Anyways, one day during recess, the 2 of them got into an argument and it looked like a fight was going to happen between them. Don’t know what it was about, but what I remember was the African grabbing the Korean’s throat, and I swear his hands were so big I think his hands covered 70% of the Korean’s neck. Me and some friends, acting like the self-proclaimed righteous peacekeepers we thought we were, pulled the both of them apart and tried to calm them down. At this point, I remember the Korean saying something like “come over here and say that to my face!”.
While all this was happening, the people in class were watching. This one guy in particular, was sitting on a table and kept cheering the Korean and African, yelling “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!”. I told him to knock it off a few times because it was annoying. But he didn’t want to listen. I guess he thought it was funny, and maybe it was, I don’t know. But he kept yelling behind me “FIGHT! FIGHT!” and just out of instinct, I turned around and I pushed him off the table he was sitting. He fell and bruised his ankle.
After that I guess the fight broke off eventually without anyone throwing a punch or anything. So in the whole incident, the only ones who actually made a somewhat violent act, was me. The supposed “peacekeeper” who tried to act all Gandhi about the fight.
Looking back, I feel kinda stupid for doing what I did. But hey, at least it made this blog post.
